PRESCHOOL

Ashley Academy preschoolers find many creative ways to enrich their curriculum. A favorite amongst the preschoolers is the “Mother Goose” day at Ashley Academy. Each child chooses a nursery rhyme and recites it, as well as dressing as their favorite character. There is also a special visit from Mother Goose herself, as well as games and crafts. Preschool classes also have an annual beach party, End-of-Year carnival, and participate in the school-wide field day.

ELEMENTARY

The enrichment activities provided to Ashley Academy elementary students is unique in several ways. Not only do they enhance the learning experience, they provide students with memorable learning opportunities. Students participate in month-long reading challenges, and also pair up with students in other grades to be “reading buddies.” A Thanksgiving luncheon is presented every year, as well as a re-enactment of the first Thanksgiving complete with costumes, entertainment, and a feast served by parents. Students celebrate holidays and cultural celebrations from around the world. Students have 100th day celebrations, Fall and Spring Flings, the end of the year Kindergarten circus, an End-Of-The-Year carnival and school wide field day.

MIDDLE SCHOOL

Ashley Academy provides middle school students with a rich curriculum that goes well beyond the basic academic foundation. A variety of enrichment topics are offered each week. The study skills course teaches time management and organization. Research  and Oral Communications are new class offerings that help round out the curriculum.  Etiquette classes are taught that showcase proper social protocol, manners, and ceremonies. Students participate in Mt. Olympus Day, an oral and visual showcase of studies in Greek mythology. Middle school students participate in spelling and geography bees, yearly math and science fair.

All students take part in short-term problem solving activities that challenges them.

CLUBS/ATHLETICS/COMMUNITY

Several extra curricular opportunities are available for Ashley Academy students. After-school activities, depending on interest, include Student Council, Year Book, Drama Club, Guitar Club and Scrabble Club. Ashley Academy has a cross country team for middle school students and students are also very active in sport programs offered through Johnson City Parks Program. Ashley has a youth cheerleading team to support sport teams and provide great school spirit. Students also participate in community service projects that foster a sense of community. Visits to nursing homes, food drives, a mitten tree, and supporting The Ronald McDonald house are a few ways our students make a difference in their community.
