How to Apply

Ashley Academy seeks students with intellectual curiosity and a motivation to perform successfully. One of the goals of the admissions process is to bring together a group of students who represent diverse cultural and economic backgrounds, thus contributing a variety of interests and talents to the school community. Ashley Academy admits students of any race, religion, gender or nationality.

Children entering kindergarten need to be 5 years of age on or before August 15.

To initiate the admission process, the school requires a completed application form and the application fee of $70. The fee is non-refundable and cannot be applied towards tuition. Click here for the application form.

The parent visit provides the opportunity for families to meet with the Ashley Academy faculty and staff, tour the campus, and learn in greater detail about school programs and curriculum. Please contact the office at (423) 929-7888 to schedule a visit.

A classroom visit is required for all applicants. This occasion offers the student some insight to the environment and routines of a typical day at Ashley Academy.  When a family visits the school and the child’s application is received, a school representative will contact the family to schedule a time that is convenient for the child to spend the day at his or her current grade level.  Assessments and an interview with the Academic Dean and/or the Headmaster will occur during this visit.

Note: Applicants for grades kindergarten through seventh visit at their current grade level.

Applicants must submit current scholastic records which should include grade or progress reports, report cards, or transcripts. These forms must be sent directly to the school office from the student’s current school. Other required forms include the TN immunization record and proof of good health. A copy of the child’s birth certificate must be on file before the student is allowed to attend class.

All completed applications (with all required steps satisfied) are reviewed by the Headmaster to determine whether the student and the school are an appropriate match. Parents will be notified when a decision is made. In cases where no openings are available but the student meets the admissions criteria, the option of placement on a waiting list is offered. Preference is given to siblings and children of alumni.

• Evaluation of the applicant’s personal qualities and ability to adjust to school and community life
• Evidence of parental cooperation and support

An offer of enrollment must be confirmed by submitting an enrollment contract with the required yearly maintenance and materials fee by the designated date. This fee is non-refundable.

Tuition Information

Ashley Academy hires teachers on a yearly contractual basis, purchases textbooks, and makes other financial commitments from the operating budget based on the number of enrollments by June 1. Parents understand that students are enrolled for the entire school year and that the parents are obligated to pay all fees listed or incurred by the student once an enrollment contract has been signed.

Payments may be made in cash or by check. We also offer the SMART Tuition Management Program, which includes up to twelve (12) payments starting in June and ending in May. A registration fee of $50 is required to participate.


Pre-Kindergarten –  Grade 8: $7,400
Pre-Kindergarten (7:50 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.):  $6,000
Space can be reserved for the next school year when the enrollment contract is returned with a deposit of $300, which is deducted from the Maintenance and Materials Fee.  This enrollment fee is not refundable and is not applied to the tuition.


Maintenance and Materials Fee:  $600 – $300 enrollment fee = $300
Activity Fee for Field Trips:  $100

Optional Fees – Billed Monthly

Extended Care Daily Rate:  3:30 pm – 6:00 pm: $15/day

Lunch:  Available Monday through Friday



Monthly bills for lunches, extended care, and other miscellaneous expenses must be paid in full each month or a $15.00 late fee will be incurred. These services may be withheld if charges are not kept current.

A $25.00 fee will be charged on any returned checks.


Families leaving the school with delinquent accounts are expected to pay in full upon departure. Records will not be released until your balance is paid.

Financial Aid

A limited number of scholarships are available each year, depending on vacant spaces. All awards are based on financial need. Applications for financial assistance should be completed by May 1, and awards will be made in June, prior to the beginning of the academic year.
